Welcome!

Are we there yet? No, and that is a good thing. I remember reading from Greg Anderson, “Focus on the journey, not the destination.” The ACHS community continues on a remarkable journey, monitoring and redefining the goals of educating our students (and ourselves) for the 21st century. As groundbreaking ceremonies begin this month on the new ACHS what lies ahead for us? This blog will be a place where we all can share thoughts on what we think about this future journey, a place where ideas, concerns, and wishes can be expressed. Are you there yet?

How is the blogosphere like (or unlike the local off leash dog park) Check this link to find out.

testing the waters here--I dont think we're there yet, but you can definetly feel the good vibes from staff and students as if its a very positive move. as in our discussions in class--some felt the new school will increase the spirit, and perhaps make studetns fel more responsible towards academics/respect.
Is there another blog elsewhere from a previous email? I sifted through some rather large comments related to some visual presentation software, a terrorism network, etc, through a different URL....anyway, hasta

Good vibes are well "good". It will be an exciting 2007-08 school year to maintain and hopefully increase the momentum for the inagural year in the new building. Perhaps the whole community will unite to usher in a new era. BTW, the other blog you may be referring to is "Global Learners", you will see it is posted as a blog we read on "Are We There Yet?

I think our students are finally getting a chance to experience the feeling of "being worth it"!! They are excited about all of the changes going on in our small city!! finally, random people don't look at me like they feel sorry for me when I tell them where I work!!

Dave this is awesome! Finally, we have a place for staff to come. We don't really have a lounge and so we use the "reply all" button too frequently! Hopefully this will be positive!

To all math teachers,
I have the navigator up and running now. I use it most of the time during block 4, Algebra 9C and plan on increasing the time using it in blocks 3 and 6. Let me know if you want to see it. Or just stop by SW 103.

The comment on focusing on the journey is the truth. I don't believe we could ever get to the point we want to be with technology. I just found a new soft/hardware program that combines what we see on football games with the cirles and the invible line markers on a powerpoint presentation. The presentation was then webcasted and the user could click to watch both the presenter and the presentation or just one of the two. It's craziness the advances and uses of technolgy

You know, the students (especially the freshmen) on student council have been spending a lot of time discussing what they want for the new school... a new name? a new mascot? new colors? As the educators going into this new school, what are our hopes and dreams for change? How realistic are they? Where will we be five years from now?

As others have said, I'm also hoping the new school building will improve students' self-respect and decrease the number of random acts of destruction.
